The President is the head of the Newburyport Mothers Club. The main responsibilities are running the monthly officer meetings, handling member issues/concerns, setting overall strategy for the club and ensuring that all "moving pieces" are working. The President of NMC serves as ambassador for the club with all outside organizations. The President writes a monthly piece for the newsletter.

The role of the Vice President is to support the President by running meetings if the President is unavailable and acting as a sounding board when making club decisions. The VP is also responsible for administration of the NMC private online community. This includes, but is not limited to, approving membership applications, maintaining membership reports, coordination of membership renewal process and facilitating online communications with the club. The Vice President is also responsible for the coordination of all the NMC website changes and content (primary contact to the technical liaison) and must have strong overall understanding of all roles in order to keep the club website content current. When necessary, the VP will also fill-in and handle events/issues not covered by other roles.

The needs of these people vary as does the support from the club. The In-A-Pinch recruits NMC member volunteers to provide meals, as well as efforts to promote the availability of this service. The Designer lays out the entire newsletter, balancing advertisements, articles, photos, etc. The Designer is the liaison between the NMC and the publishing house and ensures timely delivery to the membership. The Marketing and PR Coordinators are responsible for external communication about NMC with the greater community. Duties include creating and maintaining general information marketing collateral pieces (NMC flyers, informational recruitment pieces, etc...) for posting and distribution in the local community. This also includes updates to the NMC external website to ensure consistency of message and information in both mediums. The Marketing and PR Coordinators also strive to keep in consistent contact with the local media and Chamber of Commerce for calendar listings, photo opportunities, event coverage, etc.. The role also includes supporting other members of the board with advertising, collateral development and public relations for their events and initiatives. The role also includes maintaining and distributing NMC signs, business cards, billboards, banners, balloons, t-shirts, etc. The role includes the management of NMC sponsorship benefits and opportunities when applicable. Additionally, the Marketing/PR Coordinator is responsible for updating and marketing the NMC Activity Guide which details all of the parks, pools, gyms, farms, sport complexes, arts and crafts, music/dance and other child-friendly North Shore attractions. The Activity Guide Coordinator(s) lead a team of NMC member volunteers to update and publish the NMC Activity Guide on a annual basis. Strong organizational and editing skills are a must for this role.

The Board Meeting Coordinator is responsible for attending every board meeting to take notes of all issues and topics discussed and distributing these notes to all fellow board members in a timely manner. The position also involves composing an agenda prior to the board meeting so that everyone knows what issues and topics need to be discussed at the meeting. This would include soliciting ideas from the board prior to the monthly meeting for agenda topics. Additionally, the role is responsible for coordinating the meeting logistics: location, refreshments, directions, etc.

Subgroup Coordinator

The NMC Subgroup Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the non-playgroup subgroups on BIgTent (NMC's private online community). Subgroup Coordinator works with subgroup leaders to train on NMC policies and BigTent functionality. She will remove groups that are no longer active and can create new NMC subgroups when sufficient interest dictates.
 
 
 

Technology Liaison

The Technology Liaison is our expert in all matters pertaining to the club's presence online. This Technology Liaison will be technically-minded and be proficient with Microsoft Office, web navigation methodologies, and Photoshop. The Liaison must have Microsoft Excel and Internet Explorer 6.0. Prior experience with website development is preferred, but not required. The Technology Liaison will primarily work with the Vice President on any changes to the NMC website. The role requires approximately 10 hours a month.
